A worm gear consists of a worm shaft, which can be single or multi-start, and a worm wheel, which has vibration-damping properties. Due to their working principle, worm gears enable high gear ratios in a single gear stage. There is the possibility of dynamic and static self-locking depending on the size and ratio of the gearbox.
