The Type RH operational brake is designed as an active lever brake that works pneumatically actuated and spring-opened. This means that under normal operating conditions, the forces from integrated springs keep the brake open, so no braking torque is generated. Only when compressed air is supplied through the pneumatic system is the active lever brake actuated and the desired braking torque is built up. This design ensures safe and controlled braking, as the spring package reliably opens the operational brake, and only the targeted use of pneumatics activates the braking force.
