Torque Converter Gearbox

In a torque converter gearbox (planetary gearbox), multiple spur gears are evenly distributed between an internally toothed and an externally toothed gear. The spur gears move along a concentric circular path.

Planetary gearboxes are of great importance in many areas of mechanical engineering and are versatile in use. They transmit high power and achieve high gear ratios and speeds with a favorable moment of inertia ratio. With an increasing number of planetary gears, the load distribution increases and thus the transmitable torque, enabling planetary gearboxes to transmit very high torques at high efficiency in a compact design.
